Job Description
The Resident Director (RD) is crucial member of the Edina ABC organization and has the opportunity to make a deep and positive impact in the lives of high-potential teens.
The RD lives in the Edina ABC house full time. The RD provides a supportive, structured, family-like atmosphere and oversees the students’ academics and daily lives. The RD reports to the Executive Director and also assists the Executive Director with certain administrative and organizational tasks.
The RD position may be filled by a single individual or a married couple. The RD may also keep another job or coursework as long as RD duties are fulfilled. The RD is expected to commit to the position for at least one school year.
Because the RD is essentially a "house parent" for teens, working hours are generally times when students are present at the Edina ABC house. This includes evenings, weekends, and school vacation days. The RD is generally off duty during school hours and every Sunday from 12 pm – 7 pm. However, the RD also has support of other ABC staff, a highly involved board, and an extensive volunteer community and is able to schedule additional days and times off. The RD is generally off duty over summer and winter breaks.
Edina ABC may also hire an additional resident staff member to work as a team with the RD, sharing daily responsibilities and giving the RD additional time off.
If you are interested in the RD position but are concerned about the hours/working schedule, please contact us. We may be able to accommodate special scheduling needs.
Desired Qualities, Skills, and Experience
Compensation for this position is up to $20,000 per year plus free housing in the Edina ABC house, all utilities paid, and groceries and household supplies provided when students are in residence. Groceries and household supplies are not provided when students are away on breaks.
Other Requirements
All candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check and must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
