Edina ABC’s Resident Director Loretta Smith has been with the organization since 2004. Education has alwayx been a great passion of hers. A lifelong belief that the one thing people cannot take from is what you know. Helping others to see their potential is part of her journey. Her love of learning culminated in a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, Certificate in Industrial Electronics, Masters in Human Resources Management, and a Law Degree.
Loretta has devoted much of her life to tutoring youth, teaching math/Electronics at the St Paul Urban League as well as Sunday school teacher and volunteering for many organizations.
Having an eclectic working background: Day cares, US Postal Service, Teller, Industrial technician, Attorney for children in foster care makes for a great fit as ABC Edina Resident Director. Learning patience, humor, home repair, empathy, sleeping with one eye open, social skills,working with various diverse groups. Learning family is not just biological. The main lesson: LOVE IS INFINITE.
Joy is watching 14 and 15 year old scholars grow into men and women who have the foundation for becoming amazing leaders in this world.
Loretta has been an invaluable asset to our program for the past 18 years, providing our scholars with the love, guidance and academic support they need in their home away from home.
